Jesse Irizarry joined Liberty's strength and conditioning staff during May 2010, returning to his alma mater. He serves as head strength and conditioning coach for the Lady Flames' swimming and diving program, in addition to working with Liberty's field hockey and football teams.

Irizarry, who is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (C.S.C.S), has been instrumental in elevating the strength and conditioning levels of the women's swimming and diving team. This has helped lead to the Lady Flames' rising success in the pool.

He has been mentored by Liberty's pair of renowned Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association Master Strength and Conditioning Coaches, Bill Gillespie and Dave Williams. Additionally, Irizarry is a student of advanced training programs and concepts that originated from Russian scientists and Eastern Bloc countries.

In addition to his C.S.C.S. distinction, Irizarry is also an American College of Sports Medicine Health and Fitness Specialist. He is CPR-AED certified and is a National Swimming Pool Foundation Certified Pool Operator.

He contributes to major strength and conditioning, fitness and nutrition publications such as T-Nation, EliteFTS and STACK Magazine, and has contributed to the websites of top strength and conditioning professionals.

An accomplished athlete, Irizarry holds state, national and Junior WABL world records in power lifting and is also a former boxer.

Irizarry graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology from Liberty in May 2009.

He currently lives in Lynchburg with his wife and baby daughter.
