Karyl Bacon

Strength and Conditioning Coach

Former Liberty volleyball standout Karyl Bacon returned to her alma mater in December 2012, and currently serves as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Bacon currently focuses on directing the strength and conditioning programs for Liberty's women's soccer, lacrosse, softball, men's and women's tennis and golf programs.

She is Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches  Association (CSCCa), of which she is also a member. She holds membership in the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and is certified as a Health Fitness Specialist (HFS).

Following her graduation from Liberty, Bacon completed a pair of internships in her home state of California. She was an intern at UCLA and at UC Irvine, prior to her return to Liberty as a graduate assistant in 2012.

Bacon was a four-year letterwinner (2007-10) on Liberty's volleyball team, helping the Lady Flames win four straight Big South regular-season titles and Big South postseason championships in 2007 and 2008. She was a two-time Big South All-Conference selection, garnering first team mention in 2010. Bacon was twice a member of the Big South All-Tournament team, and was voted to the VaSID All-State first team as a senior. She was named the 2011 Big South Woman of the Year, the third Liberty student-athlete to receive the award. Bacon is one of 10 members of Liberty's 1,000/1,000 club, currently ranking seventh in program history in digs (1,472) and 12th in kills (1,155).

Bacon earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Liberty in 2011. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in public health: nutrition at Liberty.

She currently resides in Lynchburg.
