Start Date: March, 2013
Adam Godwin joins Jessica Hain's staff for the 2013 season, returning to a familiar program as an assistant coach. Godwin begins his second stint as an assistant women's soccer coach after serving five years as a member of the Liberty Flames football program's support staff.
Upon rejoining the women's soccer program, Godwin brings with him 12 years of involvement with Liberty athletics as a student-athlete, alumnus, support staff member and an assistant coach.
During his stint with the football program as the Assistant Director of Operations and Recruiting, Godwin worked closely with the coaching staff across all areas of recruiting, while assisting Paul Rutigliano, Assistant AD for Football Operations, in the day-to-day operations of the program.
Godwin previously served as an assistant coach with Liberty's women's soccer program for two years (2006-07). In his duties, he was responsible for day-to-day operations of the program, recruiting, supporting the academic and compliance staff and fundraising through the Flames Club.
Godwin was responsible for recruiting the top ranked recruiting class in 2008 among Big South programs as named by SoccerBuzz.com. He helped the program achieve an APR score that ranked within the top five percent of all NCAA women's soccer programs and coached six all-conference selections.
As a student-athlete, Godwin made 70 appearances for the Flames men's soccer program, helping them to the Big South championship game in 2001. The defender scored one goal and tallied four assists during his four-year career (2001-04).
During his senior year, Godwin served as a team captain and earned Big South first team all-conference honors, as well as Big South all-tournament and VaSID second team all-state distinctions.
Godwin's performances for Liberty during his final year helped him earn an invitation to try out for Great Britain's U23 team, as well as professionally with Cheltenham Town Football Club in his hometown of Hereford, England. Godwin also served as the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C.) president during his senior year at Liberty.
Upon graduating from Liberty in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in sport management, Godwin took up a position with sport hospitality giant THG Worldwide, as an International Account Executive, generating $87,000 in sales during his nine months with the company.
THG Worldwide provides sports hospitality for some of the world's largest companies to events, such as the Super Bowl, Masters, World Cup and Olympic Games. Headquartered in London, England, the company holds 50 offices in 34 different countries.
Adam and his wife, Morgaine, who works in the Academic Affairs for Athletics office, currently reside in the Lynchburg area.
