Former Flames player Doug Bream joins the Liberty coaching staff after playing professional baseball the past two summers. He will assist with first base and outfield instruction, along with hitting instruction.

Bream played in 171 games in his four seasons as a Flame from 2008-11.  The outfielder/first baseman hit .343 with 119 RBIs during his career.  He posted a .324 or higher batting average in each of his four seasons at Liberty.

In 2011, Bream was named to the Big South All-Conference second team as an outfielder, after leading the Flames with a .349 batting average and driving in a team-high 41 RBIs. During the season, he was named National Co-Hitter of the Week by the NCBWA, Southeast Region Player of the Week by College Baseball Insider and the Big South Player of the Week for April 3-10. The outfielder hit .737 (14-19) and drove in eight runs in four games during the week.

Bream signed a free agent contract with the Baltimore Orioles organization in June of 2011 and played the season in the Gulf Coast League. This past summer, he spent time with the Single A Aberdeen Iron Birds of the New York-Penn League.

A native of Elizabethtown, Pa., he currently resides in Lynchburg, Va.
