Former Liberty infielder Zack Haley enters his first season as a member of the Flames coaching staff. He will assist with infield and hitting instruction.

After transferring to Liberty for the 2011 season, Haley was a two-year starter for the Flames as a middle infielder.  Last year, the infielder concluded his collegiate baseball career by earning selection to the Big South All-Conference second team at shortstop.   He hit .303 with 25 RBIs and 45 runs scored in 2012.

Haley led the Big South Conference with 21 doubles, tying him for fifth on the Liberty single season list.  He started every game at shortstop for the Flames, committing only 11 errors in 277 chances (.960 fielding percentage).

In 2011, Haley was Liberty's everyday second baseman.  He finished the year with a .284 batting average, 28 runs scored and a .961 fielding percentage.

Haley played two seasons at Yavapai College, where the Roughriders won the Arizona College Athletic Conference title in each of his two years with the team.  In 2010, he hit .339 for the 40-21 Roughriders, who were ranked as high as No. 6 in the nation in the NJCAA Division I poll during the year.

A native of Prescott, Ariz., Haley graduated this past May from Liberty with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.  He currently resides in Lynchburg.
