Murphy brings international experience to the Lady Flames program, as she spent four years in Brazil, playing professionally for the Santos Futebol Clube and the Araraquara Futebol Clube. In addition to her time in Brazil, Murphy also spent a year in England, where she suited up for Bristol Rivers F.C.

Murphy is 2000 graduate of North Carolina and holds a bachelor's degree in exercise science. During her collegiate career (1996-00), Murphy was instrumental in helping the Tar Heels capture five ACC championships and four NCAA national titles.
