Each year, Liberty University SAAC chooses a community service project to help those in need. This year SAAC has teamed up with Special Olympics Virginia with the recent Piedmont region setting up office here in Lynchburg, Virginia. SAAC hopes that this year’s project will set the foundation for a long term relationship with Special Olympics Virginia.
Special Olympics Virginia gives Virginia's athletes continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. By using sport as a vehicle for social change, Special Olympics Virginia strives to create opportunities for meaningful interaction and self discovery for everyone. The organization’s goal is to open the heart and mind of every Virginian to the value and ability of persons with intellectual disabilities.
SAAC’s goal is join forces with the local Piedmont region by volunteering with local competitions, conducting clinics with the region’s participants as well as raising funds to help this region have a successful program.
