Seiz Named Big South Player of the Week

Ryan Seiz has been named the Big South Baseball Player of the Week.

Liberty infielder Ryan Seiz has been named the Big South Player of the Week for games played from Feb. 24-March 2.

Seiz posted a .579 batting average, scoring six times and driving in five runs during five games, as Liberty recorded a 4-1 mark last week.  The Perkasie, Pa., native not only had a hit in each of the Flames' five games, but collected three three-hit games in his last four contests.

Seiz had three doubles and a triple and belted his third home of the season, Sunday to finish the week with a 1.000 slugging percentage. In addition, he posted a .609 on base percentage.

Of the junior's three hits in Liberty's win over Ball State on Saturday, two went for extra bases.  Seiz, the Flames' designated hitter, doubled and tripled, driving in two runs and scoring two runs.

Seiz made his first two starts of the year at second base and proceeded to collect two more three-hit games on Sunday.  In his first game of the day against Ball State, two of his three hits were doubles and he recorded one RBI.  In his second game of the day, he went 3-for-3 with a two-run home run in Liberty's 11-2 victory over Rider.

eiz currently leads the Flames in batting average (.457), runs (13), RBIs (13), home runs (3) and slugging percentage (.783).
