Dot Richardson, recently named Liberty's fifth head softball coach in program history, enters her first year at the helm of the Lady Flames. Nick Pierce of LibertyFlames.com caught up with Richardson for an interview.

Richardson, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, discusses her move into full-time coaching, as she has most recently served as the Executive Director and Medical Director at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla. She shares some of her philosophies as a coach as well as her excitement about the future of Liberty softball.

In addition to being one of the most decorated collegiate, national and international players in softball history, Richardson has extensive coaching and instructional experience. Through the Dot Richardson Softball Series, Inc., Richardson has organized and taught at instructional camps and clinics throughout the nation since its founding in 1984. Additionally, she was a graduate assistant at Adelphi, and a volunteer assistant at Oregon State.
