McGinley Added to Nangle's Staff as Assistant Coach
Liberty Lacrosse Head Coach Kelly Nangle has announced the addition of Annie McGinley to her staff as an assistant coach. McGinley comes to the Hill City after playing at attacker for Rutgers.
"I am thrilled to welcome Annie into our Liberty family," Nangle stated. "Her energy and passion for the sport of lacrosse is going to have an incredible impact on our student-athletes. Annie's knowledge of the game and her experience as a player is going to be instrumental in developing our attackers. I am very excited to have her on the sidelines with me as we work to take this program to new heights."
McGinley closed out her playing career at Rutgers in 2013 with 60 goals, 43 assists, 103 points and 47 ground balls. After being sidelined during the 2011 season due to a knee injury, the New Jersey native returned with a career-best 17-goal, 15-assist effort the following year. This past season, McGinley recorded 15 goals, including a three-tally performance against No. 7 Notre Dame on March 22. The attacker followed up the hat trick with multi-goal performances against Marquette, Connecticut, No. 5 Syracuse and Villanova (March 24-April 13).
"I am extremely honored and excited to have been given the opportunity to coach women's lacrosse at Liberty University," McGinley said. "I have always been very passionate about the sport of lacrosse and could not be more thrilled to continue this passion in the next chapter of my life. I am eager to coach a group of young girls who share the same beliefs and values as I do. I hope to inspire and influence this group of girls both on and off the field."
Prior to playing at Rutgers, McGinley was a 2008 US Lacrosse High School All-American, finishing her time at Moorestown High School with 184 goals and 117 assists. Upon joining the Scarlet Knights, McGinley learned under the tutelage of Nangle, who spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Rutgers (2009-11). During the 2010 season, the pair was instrumental in helping the Scarlet Knights post an 11-5 overall record.
"No words could express my excitement working under head coach, Kelly Nangle," McGinley added. "Having had her as a coach myself, I know that her passion and enthusiasm for both the sport and her players will bring a new dynamic to this program that I am excited to be a part of."
