Throughout the month of August, LibertyFlames.com will continue to provide in-depth coverage of football's preparation for its 2014 season, including player insight features.

We continue the series of player insight features today with offensive lineman Greg Ray, one of four returning starters on Liberty's offensive line.

Ray was an All-Big South and VaSID all-state second-team selection in 2013, starting 11 out of 12 games for the Flames at center (he missed the Brevard contest due to an injury).

The Pearisburg, Va., native is a veteran of Liberty's offensive line, having played in 29 games in three previous years with the program. In 2013, he finished the year without allowing a sack and led all offensive linemen with the fewest mental errors.

Last year, Liberty ranked No. 16 in in the country in scoring offense (37.3 points per game), No. 11 in third-down conversion percentage (35.2), No. 13 in red zone offense (87.3 percent) and No. 21 in time of possession (32:06).

The Flames set a program record with 36 rushing touchdowns and ranked second in the Big South in rushing yards per game (184.1). Liberty also led the Big South and ranked No. 6 in the country in passing efficiency (155.64).

LibertyFlames.com will continue its position next week when the website visits with returning All-Big South quarterback Josh Woodrum.
