Outfielder Nick Lacik had four hits and scored twice in Liberty's win, Friday night.

The No. 22 Liberty Flames plated five runs in the fourth inning, en route to 7-1 win over the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, clinching the Big South regular season title, Friday night at Liberty Baseball Stadium.

Liberty left fielder Nick Lacik collected the second four-hit game of his career and scored twice, while right fielder Will Shepherd came through with a bases-loaded, two-out double in fourth inning.

Flames right-hander Trey Lambert allowed one run on four hits over 7 2/3 innings to run his record to a Big South-leading 10-1. Lambert struck out three batters and walked one. He allowed only one hit over his final 3 2/3 innings of work.

Liberty moves to 36-11 overall and 20-1 in Big South play. With the win, the Flames clinch their third Big South regular season title in program history and their first since 2000.

In addition, Liberty sets a program record for conference wins with 20, eclipsing 19 set by the 2010 Flames. Coastal Carolina falls to 22-27 overall and 12-10 in Big South action.

Both teams got on the scoreboard in the third inning. Chanticleers left fielder Kyle Jackson walked with one out in the top of the frame. Two batters later, first baseman Connor Owens lined a two-out single into center field, scoring Jackson for Coastal Carolina's lone run of the game and a 1-0 edge.

In the bottom of the inning, Liberty's Lacik singled with two outs and stole second base.  Two batters later, second baseman Ryan Seiz ripped a single through the right side of the infield to plate Lacik, knotting the game at 1-1.

After Lambert worked out of a one-out jam with runners on second and third in the top of the fourth, Liberty used four hits and two Coastal Carolina errors in the home half of the inning to take a 6-1 lead.

With one out, first baseman Alex Close reached on a fielding error by Chanticleers third baseman Zach Remillard and moved to second on a wild pitch. Catcher Danny Grauer followed with a run-scoring double to wall in left-center field for a 2-1 edge.

Two batters later, center fielder Ashton Perritt was hit by a pitch with two outs and the Flames loaded the bases, when Lacik reached on an infield single. Shepherd followed by ripping a 3-2 offering into the left-center field gap to clear the bases with a double and give the Flames a 5-1 lead. Seiz then singled to score Shepherd for a 6-1 advantage.

The Flames added a run in the sixth. With one out, Perritt singled and moved to third on a double by Lacik. Perritt then scored on a wild pitch for what proved to be the final score of 7-1.

Coastal Carolina right-hander Tyler Herb drops to 6-5 on the year. Herb gave up seven runs, only two earned, on eight hits over six innings. He struck five batters and walked two.

Liberty outhit Coastal Carolina, 10-4. Seiz and Grauer had two hits apiece for the Flames.

Liberty and Coastal Carolina will meet again, tomorrow night at Liberty Baseball Stadium.  First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. Before the game, the seniors on the Liberty baseball roster will be honored.
