As the Liberty women's soccer team prepares for the semifinals of the 2013 Big South Championship on Friday, five Lady Flames have earned Big South all-conference honors, as voted by the league's coaches.

Sophomore midfielder Brittany Aanderud and senior defender Casey Norris were named to the conference's first team, while junior defender Maddie Boone and redshirt freshman goalkeeper Holly Van Noord earned second team honors. Van Noord and forward Julia Delgatti also secured spots on the conference's all-freshman squad.
Much like Van Noord, Boone picked up a second accolade, as she was named to the all-academic team.

A 2012 all-freshman team member, Aanderud leads the 2013 Lady Flames with 16 points on five goals and six assists. The sophomore's assist total ties her with Campbell's Hillary Gupton, Gardner-Webb's Megan Reynolds and Longwood's Gina D'Orazio for the league lead in helpers. Aanderud has posted the game-winning assist in the three straight games, giving her 11 for her career. The mark now ties her with Madison Short (2009-11) and Aimee Luurtsema (2008-11) for the third-most assists in program history.

Norris has also cemented her name in the Liberty record books. On Senior Day she set a new program record for the most games played in program history, surpassing Liberty Athletics Hall of Famer Nancy Davis (1998-2001, 78 games). The Pittsboro, N.C., native has appeared in 81 total contests. This season, Norris has been instrumental in helping the Lady Flames set a new single-season shutout record (13). In addition to her defensive effort, the senior also recorded the game-winning assist in Liberty's 1-0 victory over Charleston Southern (Sept. 25) and kick started the Lady Flames' attack with the initial goal in their 7-0 win versus Campbell (Sept. 28).

Playing alongside Norris, Boone has also been a linchpin for the Lady Flames' defense, this season. The junior was named Big South Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 21 for her role in Liberty's victories over VMI and Gardner-Webb. Earlier this season, Boone also posted a goal in the team's 3-0 win at Saint Joseph's (Sept. 8), helping the Lady Flames eventually garner a program-best 5-1 start.

After redshirting her freshman year, Van Noord has turned heads in her first active season, setting a single-season program record with 13 shutouts. Like Boone, the Hudsonville, Mich., native also earned Big South Defensive Player of the Week honors (Sept. 9) earlier this season, for her pair of shutout performances in the City of Brotherly Love against Drexel and Saint Joseph's. Van Noord is currently 19th in the country in save percentage (.859) and 22nd in goals-against average (0.58). Thanks in part to her efforts, Liberty is also 10th in the country in shutout percentage (.650), 18th in save percentage and 20th in goals-against average.

Delgatti has been a key distributor for the Lady Flames in her first season. The freshman is second on the team in assists with four, which includes a three-assist performance in Liberty's 7-0 victory over Campbell. The Rochester, N.Y., native's trio of helpers were the most by a Lady Flame in a single game since Silvia Betancourt posted three in a 5-1 victory over Presbyterian on Oct. 18, 2008. Delgatti also posted her first career goal on Sept. 6, capping Liberty's scoring in its 3-0 win versus Drexel.

No. 2 seed Liberty (14-5-1) continues play in the semifinals of the 2013 Big South Championship, Friday, squaring off with No. 6 seed High Point in Conway, S.C. The contest will stream live on the Big South Network at 7 p.m.
