Liberty is ranked No. 11 in the Southeast Region this week.

After a 37th-place finish at Saturday's ISU Pre-National Invitational, the Liberty men's cross country team is ranked No. 11 in the Southeast Region, as announced today by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Eastern Kentucky reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the regional rankings, followed by previous No. 1 North Carolina. Less than two weeks before the 2013 Big South Cross Country Championships, Liberty is the only Big South team to appear in this week's Southeast Region listing.

Part of a field of 52 regionally ranked teams, the Flames finished 37th in Saturday's 8K blue race in Terre Haute, Ind. Liberty put three runners under the 25:00 mark on the rolling terrain at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course, including Josh MacDonald (109th place, 24:41.51), Caleb Edmonds (132nd place, 24:49.42) and Jeremie Bourget (158th place, 24:59.26).

Liberty will take this weekend off from competition before returning to action at the Big South Cross Country Championships on Nov. 2. The meet will be hosted by VMI at the Vista Links Golf Course in Buena Vista, Va. The men's 8K championship will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by the women's 5K championship at 11:30. The Liberty men's squad will be seeking its ninth consecutive Big South cross country title.
