Jason Porter, MS, ATC

Mr. Porter was named the Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine on February 1, 2012.  His jobs include administrating and overseeing the daily needs of the athletic training staff, graduate assistants, and working to coordinate the overall operations of Liberty University Sports Medicine. 

Porter graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1997 with an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and a concentration in Sports Medicine.  During his undergraduate career, Porter obtained summer positions at both the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY and the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD.  In 1999, Porter completed his Master’s degree in Sports Administration from Texas Tech University while serving as a Graduate Assistant with football and track and field.  Porter was the Head Athletic Trainer at Southwest Baptist University from 1999-2001 and the Head Football Athletic Trainer at Liberty during the 2002 and 2003 seasons. 

From 2003 – 2008, Porter moved into full time ministry fulfilling positions as church administrator, college pastor and senior pastor in the St. Louis, MO area.  While in the ministry, Porter kept his athletic training skills sharp by working as an adjunct professor at Logan College of Chiropractic, teaching in the Masters’ Program in Sports Science and Rehabilitation.  Porter additionally taught  Biomechanics in the Health and Sport Science department at Missouri Baptist University.  Porter’s passion for both teaching and athletics, has allowed him the privilege of preaching at team chapels for the St. Louis Rams, NCAA Women’s Final Four Coaches’ Chapel, numerous FCA and AIA events, and pregame devotions for LU baseball and women’s basketball programs respectively.         

In 2009, Porter returned to Liberty University when he joined the Athletic Training Education Program faculty as the Clinical Coordinator and assistant professor teaching the practicum courses, Upper and Lower Evaluation, Medical Aspects, Community Health, and Introduction to Exercise Science.  Porter is an adjunct professor in Health Science and is currently pursuing his doctorate in Educational Leadership through Liberty University.                

Porter is married to Rachael and the couple has one daughter, Eden. 

Barry Finke MS, ATC, PES, CES

Mr. Finke is the senior assistant athletic trainer assigned to football. Finke completed his undergraduate work at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2000 and received his MS degree from UT Chattanooga in 2002.

Finke is married to Marry and has two children, Noah (4) and Ella (2).
 

 

Aaron Schreiner, MS, ATC, CES

Mr. Schreiner is the senior assistant athletic trainer responsible for men’s basketball as well as coordinating athletics-wide rehab. Schreiner completed his undergraduate work at Taylor University in 2002 and received his MS from the University of Toledo in 2005.

Laura Hoskins, MA, ATC

Mrs. Hoskins has made the switch to assistant athletic trainer with track & field and cross country this year, while maintaining her role as Administrative Assistant to the Assistant AD of Sports Medicine and the Athletic Insurance Coordinator. Hoskins completed her undergraduate work at Liberty University in 2006, and then spent one year as a Graduate Assistant at George Washington University before returning to Liberty. She also received her M.A. in Human Services with a specialization in Business from Liberty University in 2009.

Dan Brown, ATC

 Mr. Brown is the assistant athletic trainer in charge of women’s soccer and softball.  He completed his undergraduate work at Western Carolina University in 2010 and is currently working on his Master’s of Business Administration - Healthcare Management.  Mr. Brown has had previous internships with Duke University’s K-Lab, Durham Bulls Triple-A baseball club, Virginia Tech, and the Baltimore Ravens.  Mr. Brown has become a part of Liberty’s athletic training staff after completing his graduate assistantship at Liberty with football, baseball, and men’s soccer teams.

Mr. Cops is the assistant athletic trainer assigned to assist with football. Cops completed his undergraduate work at Azusa Pacific University in 2003 and currently working toward his M.S. in Sports Management at Liberty University.

Mr. Galley is the assistant athletic trainer in charge of women’s basketball and cheerleading. Galley graduated from Liberty with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training in 2009. The following year, he earned a master’s degree in athletic training from California (Pa.). He also owns a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) certification as a Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES). Galley is married to Mrs. Katie Galley.
