Liberty sits in second place after day one at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Invitational.
Kelvin Day (72-66—138) of Charleston Southern leads all players at two under par. J.P. Solis (67-72—139) from host USC Aiken sits in second place one under par, while Liberty newcomer Robert Karlsson (67-73—140) sits at even par, two strokes behind the leader.
After Karlsson, Liberty is led by Preston Dembowiak (72-73—145), who is tied for 15th, five shots over par. Tobias Pettersson (72-74—146) is tied for 21st and Jay Calvo (74-74—148) is tied for 30th, eight strokes over par. Nathan Schenz-Davis (72-81—153) rounds out the Flame five at 13 over par.
The Flames have some competition coming up from the rear, as Big South foe Winthrop (582) sits in third place, five strokes behind Liberty and nine shots away from the lead. Wofford (583) is on the Eagles heels in fourth place and UNC Wilmington (585) rounds out the top squads in fourth place.
The Cleveland Golf Palmetto Invitational, hosted by USC Aiken, will conclude with a final round on Tuesday, at the Palmetto Golf Club.
