Nathan Schenz-Davis tied for eighth at West Florida's Argonaut Invitational, helping Liberty to a second place finish.
Tom Whitney (69-66-72—207) of Air Force held on to win medalist honors at nine under par, while Kevin Tucker (73-70-68—211) of Washington State secured second place. Kyle Scott of host West Florida (73-68-72—213) secured a third-place finish.
Liberty was led by Robert Karlsson (70-74-70—214), who finished in fifth place at two under par. Tobias Pettersson (70-78-71—219) and Nathan Schenz-Davis (77-71-71—219) each tied for eighth at three over par. Preston Dembowiak (72-77-75—224) tied for 21st and Jay Calvo (72-73-81—226) rounds out the Flame five in 30th place.
The Flames also had three other players participating in the event as individuals. Stephen Dooley (82-78-74—234) tied for 50th. Sang Chun (79-81-75—235) tied for 52nd and Chris Watters (82-72-82—236) finished in a tie for 55th place.
Washington State (870) finished in third place, behind Liberty, and another team from the Commonwealth, James Madison (884) finished in fourth place.
Liberty hits the links again on Monday at USC Aiken's Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate. The two-day/54-hole event will be contested at the Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, S.C.
