The Flames finished the first day of action at the Birkdale Collegiate Classic in fourth place out of 12 teams after 36 holes of competition played at the par-72, 7,013 yard Birkdale Golf Club.
Charlotte currently leads the field by a considerable margin as the 49ers have a 13-stroke lead over second-place Richmond as Charlotte finished the first 36 holes with an eight-over par 584 (298-286), while the Spiders are in second place with a 21-over par 597 (293-304).
Liberty currently is in fourth place with a 25-over par 601 (296-305), while UT-Chattanooga is just one spot above Liberty at 22-over par 598 (304-294).
Wofford's Neil O'Briain leads the field of 68 golfers as he is the only player in red numbers by finishing the first 36 holes with a three-under par 141 (70-71), while Charlotte's Trevor Murphy is in second place with an even par 144 (73-71).
Liberty's Jay Calvo is in a three-way tie for fifth place with a three-over par 147 (70-77), while Andrew Turner is tied for 12th with a five-over par 149 (74-75).
Also placing for the Flames are Parker McCoy as he is tied for 28th place with an 11-over par 155 (76-79) and Peter Horstman (82-74) and Albie Powers (76-80) as both golfers are tied for 36th with a 12-over par 156.
The Flames will conclude the Birkdale Intercollegiate Collegiate Classic on Saturday morning with a final 18 holes of competition at the Birkdale Golf Club.
