Flames Finish 5th At Rutherford Intercollegiate To Conclude Season

Host Penn State held their two-round lead to capture the Rutherford Intercollegiate title on Sunday in University Park, Pa., at the 7,228-yard, par-72 Penn State Blue Course. The Nittany Lions (289-289-316) finished the three round tournament with an 894 and 12-strokes above second place Austin Peay State (297-297-312) who shot a 906.

Eastern Kentucky (300-295-316) finished in third place with a 911 while Wright State (306-308-317) shot a 931 to finish in fourth place. Liberty (314-303-319) rounded out the top five teams as they started the day in eighth and finished the tournament tied with Towson (302-304-330) with a 936.

Roberty Rohanna (71-73-73) of Penn State came from fourth place and two-strokes back to win individual honors finishing at one-over par. Brandon Knutson (72-76-71) finished at three-over par to take second place while Grant Leaver (69-73-80) of Austin Peay finished in third place, five-strokes off the lead after entering the day in the lead.

Parker McKoy (80-71-77) led the way for Liberty finishing tied for 12th at 12-over par. Jay Calvo (81-72-79) finished 16-over par while Andrew Nelson (77-81-82) shot 24-over par. Rounding out the Flame five was Michael Turner (77-79-86) at 26-over par and Peter Horstman (80-83-81) at 28-over par.

This tournament concluded the 2006-07 season for the golf squad.
