Justin Sizemore's two-run double gave Liberty a 2-1 win, Saturday.

A two-run double by left fielder Justin Sizemore with two out in the eighth propelled the Liberty Flames past the Radford Highlanders, 2-1, in the final regular season game for both teams, Saturday at Liberty Baseball Stadium.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the eighth, the Flames rallied with two outs. Shortstop Bryan Aanderud kept the inning alive with an infield single and moved to third base on a double to center field by first baseman Alex Close. Sizemore, a senior playing in his last regular-season game as a member of the Flames, followed by lining a double into the left center field gap, scoring both runners to give Liberty a 2-1 advantage.

Reliever Jared Lyons pitched a scoreless ninth to seal the win and complete the Liberty comeback.

Liberty finished the 2013 regular season with a 13-11 Big South record and 29-26 overall mark. With the win, the Flames take the three-game series, 2-1.  Radford drops to 14-10 in conference and 29-24 overall.

The Highlanders took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning with an unearned run.  With one out, right fielder Patrick Marshall reached on a throwing error by Liberty shortstop Dalton Britt and advanced to second on a single by shortstop Jeff Kemp.  After a fielder's choice ground out by left fielder Zach Woolcock moved Marshall to third, first baseman Alexander Lee singled with two outs to give Radford the 1-0 edge.

The visitors' advantage held up until the eighth, when the Flames took the lead on Sizemore's two-base hit.

Liberty's Lyons moves to 3-0. The left-hander pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth in recording the win.  He struck out two and walked a batter.

Radford reliever Nygeal Andrews falls to 0-1. The Highlander reliever gave up both Liberty runs on three hits during one inning of work. He struck out one and walked one.

Hits were at a premium throughout the afternoon.  Liberty collected seven hits.  Sizemore and catcher Trey Wimmer each had two hits apiece for the Flames. Radford managed five hits. Lee collected two hits to go along with an RBI for the Highlanders.

Liberty now awaits the completion of Big South Conference play this afternoon in order to find out the seeding and its opponent for the upcoming 2013 Big South Baseball Championship. The Flames will host the double-elimination tournament at Liberty Baseball Stadium, starting Tuesday.  Liberty will play the final game of the opening day, starting 45 minutes after the completion of game 3, which is slated to start at 4:30 p.m.
