Lady Flames Preparing for Gardner-Webb

Liberty will face Gardner-Webb in a Big South Women's Basketball Championship quarterfinal contest Friday at 8 p.m., inside The HTC Center.

As the Liberty women's basketball team prepares for Friday's Big South Women's Basketball Championship quarterfinal matchup against Gardner-Webb, the Flames Sports Network's Alan York caught up with assistant coach Alexis Sherard.

The No. 1 seed Lady Flames will face No. 9 seed Gardner-Webb in the tournament for the fourth time in the last five seasons, Friday at 8 p.m. inside The HTC Center in Conway, S.C. At stake will be a berth in Saturday's semifinal round against either No. 4 seed High Point or No. 5 seed Campbell.

Liberty was victorious in its lone meeting with the Runnin' Bulldogs this season, posting a 55-40 victory at Gardner-Webb on Feb. 23. The Lady Flames faced Gardner-Webb in the Big South Championship title contest three consecutive seasons (2009, 2010 & 2011), winning two of those games.
