Continuing Coverage of CCSA Championships
The 2013 Coastal Collegiate Association (CCSA) Swimming and Diving Championships have reached their last session, with Saturday evening's finals closing out the meet in Athens, Ga. Liberty enters the evening in second place with 378 points, trailing Florida Gulf Coast, which has 544 points.
This morning, the Lady Flames had 14 swimmers qualify for tonight's finals, with 10 making A finals and four earning spots in the B finals. Liberty athletes broke four program records as well.
Emily Duff broke the program record in the 200 back (1:59.56), placing second in qualifying, while Kendall Hough is seeded fifth (2:02.45). Emilie Kaufman qualified in second for the 200 breast, in a program-record 2:16.69, while Laura Day swam 2:18.95 to earn the sixth seed.
Hannah Wakeley is in second place in the women's 1,650 freestyle entering tonight's final heat. She swam a program-record 17:12.07, and also broke Liberty's 1000 record in 10:21.99 during the first 1000 of her 1,650.
Brye Ravettine qualified in second for the 100 free, in 50.13. Cori Gary (50.75), Meghan Babcock (50.92) and Chloe Thomas (51.33) placed fifth through seventh in prelims. Kendall Hough and Sarah McCorkle qualified for the 100 free B final.
Bethany Wakeley swam 2:03.65, earning the second seed in the 200 fly, while Jess Reinhardt placed eighth in prelims at 2:05.11. Ranndi Grubbs and Hannah Wakeley both made the B final in the 200 fly.
Tonight's action will feature pool-side, live blog coverage as the Lady Flames compete in Athens. Look for coverage to begin shortly before the 6 p.m. finals start with an interactive blog, where all are invited to interact with questions and comments.
