Kaufman Named CCSA Swimmer of Week
Liberty junior Emilie Kaufman was named the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) Women's Swimmer of the Week award for the third time this season, as announced today.
Kaufman, a transfer from Rutgers who hails from Kirkland, Wash., was previously honored by the CCSA on Oct. 17 and Nov. 21. Liberty has claimed the weekly award two weeks in a row, as Cori Gary was named Swimmer of the Week on Jan. 30. Kaufman is tied with Emma Svensson of Florida Gulf Coast for the most CCSA Swimmer of the Week honors this season.
On Saturday at the Davidson Duals, Kaufman won the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley and swam on Liberty's victorious 200 medley relay, helping the Lady Flames go 5-0 at the meet. She clocked 1:03.21 to win the 100 breaststroke, and later won the 200 IM by over four seconds, in 2:07.38.
Kaufman swam 28.66 during the second leg of Liberty's 200 medley relay, which won in 1:46.07. She later anchored Liberty's B 400 free relay in 52.78. She has posted 13 individual event victories so far this season, breaking program records in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and 200 IM.
Liberty (14-2, 9-1 CCSA) has concluded its 2012-13 swimming regular season with a program-record 14 dual-meet victories. The Lady Flames will next compete in the 2013 CCSA Swimming & Diving Championships, held from Feb. 21-23 at Georgia's Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga.
