Financial Planning & Budgeting

The Financial Planning & Budgeting office strives to serve the University community with a friendly and servant oriented mindset. The functions of our office include:

  • Coordinate and assist in the development of the operating budget requests
  • Ensure the departments operate in accordance with the University’s Policies and Procedures
  • Provide management with analysis and feedback about budgetary problems
  • Ensure the timely availability and integrity of financial data for institutional decision-making
  • Monitor departments operating budgets
  • Process approved budget amendments
  • Assist Budget Managers in the execution of their responsibilities
  • Train division leaders, budget managers, and other users of the University's financial system on:
    • Finance related Policies & Procedures
    • Using the University's Financial System (Banner)
    • Understanding the Budget Planning Process

Fiscal Year 2014 Budget Planning

The following tools were developed for th Budget Planning Cycle for Fiscal Year 2013-2014.  Divisions should use the documents below to assist them in the planning process.  Further assistance can be obtained via your specific Budget Analyst.

Finance 100: Now ONLINE

Financial Planning & Budgeting is pleased to announce that Finance 100 is now available in both classroom and online formats. Successful completion of this course requires attendees to score a minimum of 80% accuracy on the quiz. Once the quiz is successfully completed, Financial Planning & Budgeting will submit a ticket for Banner Finance access.

Procedures for enrolling in Finance 100 are below:

1) Sign up for Finance 100 via the Pro Dev Portal.
Please note that attendees will need to wait until the following day to access the
Blackboard material.

2) Login to Blackboard to review course content and complete the quiz.

Financial Planning & Budgeting will submit tickets 2-3 times per week, but if access is needed immediately, email budget@liberty.edu. Please be sure to include the user name of the attendee and the date the quiz was completed. Permissions to view and submit transactions against a specific budget will still need to be obtained through the Fund/Org Access forms and additional Banner training.
