Cell Phone Stipends

 

Eligible Liberty University employees who need cellular service to enhance their work efficiency and productivity must submit a Liberty University Cell Phone Stipend Form to their Supervisor. Eligible personnel include University Vice Presidents, employees regularly on call and employees who spend a substantial amount of work hours away from their office. If approved by that individual’s Supervisor and Divisional Vice President, the form should be forwarded to Procurement for processing. The completed form will then be forwarded to Human Resources for final approval.

There are two designated cell phone stipends.

  1. Voice only – Voice only stipends are for individuals who are frequently away from their work area but need the ability to receive phone calls at all times.  If approved, the quarterly payment will be $137.27 per quarter.
  2. Voice/Data – Voice/Data stipends are for individuals whose job related responsibilities require a voice and data phone.  Employees eligible for voice/data devices are University Vice Presidents and employees that regularly need network capabilities away from their office. If approved, the quarterly payment will be $259.01 per quarter. 

For data phones only, Liberty University will reimburse device costs up to $50 for the initial purchase of one device upon completion of a university request for check and presentation of vendor invoice.

Each individual will be able to choose their own phone and service provider and is responsible for purchasing and maintaining the device and service. Please remember that the University payment is fixed; each user will be personally responsible for the charges incurred.

Most data-enabled cellular phones (Apple, Android, Windows Mobile) should allow for Liberty e-mail to be set up. If available on the phone, access to Liberty’s network should also function. Please note that some BlackBerry phones do not fully sync with Liberty’s e-mail system. If you are uncertain the phone you are considering will work with Liberty’s network, please submit a HelpDesk ticket (www.liberty.edu/helpdesk) so it can be evaluated by the IT HelpDesk.
