Growing up along the East coast, I graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1976 with a B.A. in History. My wife M.C. and I married two days after my graduation and moved to Indiana so I could attend Indiana University where I received my M.B.A. with a concentration in Marketing. After a few years selling sausage and bacon for Oscar Mayer and Hillshire Farm, I decided I wanted to be the one making purchasing decisions rather than trying to convince someone to buy my products. Since the early 1980’s, with the exception of a seven year break to co-own a franchise retail store and then a glass etching facility, I held purchasing and marketing positions with small to large organizations, primarily in the food industry. After 25 years in Colorado and Idaho, we took advantage of an opportunity to return to Virginia to allow us to be closer to our respective families. While M.C. seeks her Master of Education through Liberty University Online, we care for an ever evolving herd of horses, donkeys, dogs and cats on our 14 acres south of Red House. I grew up in the Lynchburg area. A stay-at-home mom until our children entered high school, I re-entered the work force in purchasing positions in the health care industry and manufacturing. Holding the C.P.M. (Certified Purchasing Manger) certification since 2000, I also attained the Lean Manufacturing certification in 2004. After several years away from Lynchburg due to a job transfer, my husband and I had the opportunity to move back home in 2005 and be closer to our 4 grandchildren. I enjoy running as well as arts and crafts. Elizabeth J. Beale, C.P.M. |

A Lynchburg native, I graduated from Brookville High School in 1979. My wife of twenty years Gina and I have a very active family of Ginny, age 14, Evan, age 12 and a dog named Maggie. Ginny plays volleyball, swims, and runs track for Brookville and swims for Wildwood Pool. Evan plays baseball on a travel team that I help coach as well as swimming for Wildwood Pool. I have wide ranging sales and purchasing experience in automotive parts and distribution, nuclear quality control and food processing. I intend to secure my business degree through Liberty University Online. Bryan K. Mitchell

A native of sunny and tropical South Florida, I received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Florida and a master’s degree in Taxation from Florida Atlantic University. Upon graduating with my masters, I worked as a staff accountant for an accounting firm preparing tax returns and write up work for small businesses. In 2005 the accounting firm downsized and offered me a position as Assistant Vice President of Loan Administration where I processed hard equity loans. As mortgage business went south, I headed North where my new husband as of July 2008 now attends Liberty’s Law School. When I'm not having fun at work, you might catch me spending time with my husband, crafting and decorating, baking, cooking, or enjoying a good outdoors workout. Julie Slagle

As the daughter of two navy retirees, my family moved as assigned all over the East coast. Drawn to Liberty University in part by my older cousin’s academic and work experience at Liberty, Lynchburg became my home when I commenced my LU undergraduate studies in Business Management in 2004. I will complete my studies via Liberty University Online in 2009. In my spare time I enjoy playing volleyball, taking long drives in the country side, and experiencing talented music. My experience in Purchasing started as a student worker in 2007. As the Purchasing Office Assistant, I strive to connect the University with the department and facilitate the system of making purchases for the University community.
