Celebrating the season with events and activities for all

Christmas time is here and students and community members looking to partake in local festivities are invited to Holiday Traditions, a signature downtown event Dec. 3, 10 and 17.
Holiday Traditions features several fun, family activities to help community members celebrate the holiday season.

Take pictures with the Grinch

Students can come to the Galleria located at 915 Main street to have their photo taken with the Grinch, who will be on his best behavior for the holiday season. All participants are entitled to one free 4×6 photo and are invited to bring their own cameras for extra photographs and memory making. Participants can also purchase collectible Grinch ornaments and shop the Galleria while waiting for their pictures.

Take a carriage ride

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. students can take in the sites of Downtown Lynchburg while enjoying a ride in a horse drawn carriage through the streets of Lynchburg. Students can catch a ride from the starting point locations at 10th and Main, or at the Community Market. The carriage rides are free and operate on a first-come, first-serve basis. Participants can take the time to sightsee, window shop and chat with friends and family as they make their way through Lynchburg.

Mistletoe Market

Those looking for a fun and relaxing shopping trip can head to Mistletoe Market to enjoy good food and unique gift opportunities. Shoppers can visit the bakery, various dining locations, view hand crafted items, sweets and other goods. While at the market, shoppers can meet Santa and Mrs. Claus from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m and have their photo taken for a minimal charge.
