• 2017 IHSA  REGIONAL CHAMPION HUNTER SEAT TEAM
  • 2017 IHSA REGIONAL CACCHIONE CUP CHAMPION
  • 2017 TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS HUNTER MEDAL CHAMPION

Liberty University Equestrian Team competes in Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association, versus schools like VCU, Richmond, NC State, William and Mary, St, Andrews, etc.  Within the team, there is a hunter seat team and a western team.  Cost is $600 per year, which pays for all lessons, show entry fees and travel, and some team swag.  Athletes practice twice per week, plus some free rides.  Top riders practice over jumps in addition.  All athletes work as a group with a strength coach twice weekly, and new members have a study hall requirement till they prove themselves academically.

The university treats riders just like any varsity athlete, with great academic and medical support, trainers, tutors, etc.  We use strength training, sports psychology, video review, and more in our training.

Tryouts are the first week of each semester.  Each season about 75 riders tryout for about 20 hunter spots and 10 western spots.  Practices are typically 9AM, or 3 or 4PM, which doesn’t conflict with your class schedule because as an athlete you can schedule first before classes close.  Our competition season begins in September and extends till week before graduation if you make it all the way to Nationals.
