Liberty University's racquetball team hosted players and teams from Appalachian State, Colorado Tech, Duke, Maryland, N.C. State, North Carolina, and Virginia at its first Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Racquetball Conference Tournament, this past Friday through Sunday at The Sports Racket in Lynchburg.

Flames head coach Danny Rodriguez teamed up with Luther Hardee to win two three-game matches in men's AB doubles. The tandem rallied past Christian Huffman and Ron Forster, 11-15, 15-14, 11-0, before edging assistant coach Shawn Furman and tournament director Phil Wheeler, 15-10, 13-15, 11-10. Furman and Wheeler later defeated Huffman and Forster, 15-9, 15-12.

Liberty's top two men's players, Joel Denney and Ryan Evans, were shut out for the weekend in their singles, doubles, and mixed doubles matches. Denney lost to UVA's Kenneth Lohr, 15-3, 15-1, in his Level 1 Gold Division quarterfinal before being swept by Colorado Tech's Kamyron Meeks in the Red Division finals, 15-6, 15-4. Evans dropped his Level 2 Gold Division quarterfinal match to the Cavaliers' Patrick Litten, 15-5, 15-4, before falling to UNC's Thomas Moore in a three-game Blue Division final, 15-14, 11-15, 11-5.
