Forward, Rick Turner, remains in third for the ACHA lead in goals with 16, and is averaging over a goal a game. Alternate captain, Andrew McCombe had a big weekend against Stony Brook, registering a hat trick in Saturday's game. The sophomore center is averaging a point a game with 15. Another guy that will be on the Flames radar is Christopher Volonnino who not only has 11 points, but also leads the entire Blue Hens squad in penalty minutes with 20. Jason Michaud leads the Delaware defense crops in points with 10, but it is also worth noting that he has scored 20% of their powerplay goals. Delaware netminder, SJ Broadt has been extremely consistent in goal. He posts a 92% save percentage and a 2.16 GAA.
Previous Matchups: Last season Liberty dropped both games against Delaware at the Lahaye Ice Center, losing both games each by only one goal. Rick Turner scored a goal in both of those games, and Joe Smith added a tally as well. When Liberty traveled to Delaware in the second half of the season they were smashed on the way losing the first game by a 8-0 margin. However, the Flames rebounded in the second game of the series by winning by the score of 3-1. In that game, Blair Bennett made a whopping 41 saves in arguably his best performance of the season, and Brent Boschman, Rick Turner, and Andrew McCombe all scored goals for LU.
