Rifle team sweeps events at UVA; Feaga wins JO national bid

Sophomore Mitchell Feaga's first-place performances in the Smallbore and Air Rifle events highlighted Liberty University's rifle team competition against the University of Virginia, Saturday at the Rivanna Rifle and Pistol Club in Charlottesville, Va.
Freshman Michael Donoho placed second in Smallbore and third in Air Rifle with freshman Kristen Gagne second in Air Rifle and Susie Morcom third in Smallbore.
All seven rifle team members have qualified to go to the March 20-22 NRA Intercollegiate Rifle Club Championships in Fort Benning, Ga.
Feaga, Donoho, and Gagne represented Liberty at the 2020 Maryland Junior Olympic Rifle Competition, held Jan. 11 at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., a qualifying match to go to the National Junior Olympics, hosted by USA Shooting at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., in April.
By claiming two gold medals in Maryland, with a 580 score in International Air Rifle and 573 total in Smallbore, Feaga earned a first-round invitation to compete at in both events at the national level. Donoho (silver in International Air Rifle and Smallbore with scores of 575 and 558) and Gagne (silver in Air Rifle and Smallbore with scores of 571 and 550) are waiting on second-round invitations in one or both guns.
