Flames men's volleyball falls to Southern Virginia in five

Liberty University's men's volleyball team rallied from two games down to force Game 5 before falling to NCAA Division III Southern Virginia, 25-15, 25-22, 22-25, 17-25, 15-10, Saturday night at Knight Arena in Buena Vista, Va.
The Flames (10-2, ranked second in NCVF Division I) were swept by the Knights in three games twice in both of the past two seasons.
Senior middle hitter Gene Dejesus and freshman outside hitter James Morton both spiked 12 kills, freshman outside hitter Joshua Knapp added 10 kills and six block assists, and sophomore outside hitter Sean Taggart spiked nine kills to spark the Flames' attack. Senior setter Kaden Knepper distributed 39 assists and senior outside hitter Brady Quakenbush anchored the defense with 13 digs.
The Knights (14-1) got a match-high 17 kills from Nahuel Recabarren, 16 kills and nine digs from Paul Clark, 13 kills from Mark Stapley, and 18 digs from Daniel Aina,
Liberty will next compete in the ECVA South Division Championships, set for March 23 at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va.
