November 20, 2018 | Newport News, Va.
Competing in its final Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Region 4 event of the fall semester, Liberty University's Hunt Seat equestrian team finished fourth out of 10 schools represented at Christopher Newport University on Saturday with a total of 25 points.
The Lady Flames trailed only Sweet Briar College and Randolph-Macon College, which tied for first place, and the College of William & Mary, which came in third.
Liberty received blue-ribbon performances from two of its freshmen riders — Hannah Gossard in Novice Flat and Juliana Gorena in Walk-Trot-Canter. Senior Morgan Faber rode to a red ribbon with her runner-up showing in Intermediate Flat.
"The team performed well against stiff competition," Head Coach Suzanne Flaig said. "We are looking forward to the spring semester and continuing to improve."
The Lady Flames are currently ranked third in the Region behind Sweet Briar and Randolph Macon. Liberty's next Region 4 show is scheduled for Feb. 9 at the Liberty Equestrian Center.
