Snook provides depth to Lady Flames' DI hockey goalie corps

May 14, 2018  |  Stittsville, Ontario

Incoming Liberty goalie Madeleine Snook (right) was a captain for the Rideau St. Lawrence Thunder in Ontario, Canada.

Former Rideau St. Lawrence Thunder captain Madeleine Snook is the second goalie in the 2018-19 recruiting class for Liberty University's ACHA Division I women's hockey team.

Snook, from Ontario, will join incoming goalie Megan Peterson to complement rising junior Nadia Rupoli between the pipes for the defending ACHA DI national champion Lady Flames.

"It will be exciting to see two new goalies come in and compete with Nadia for minutes in our goal," Liberty first-year Head Coach Chris Lowes said. "Maddie is a solid goaltender and will be a nice addition to our team. She came and skated with the team and made an instant connection with our players and staff. I believe she will fit in well both on and off the ice and will make our team stronger."

Snook, who plans to study in Liberty's School of Nursing, stands 5 feet, 8 inches tall and covers a lot of net with her hybrid goaltending style and upright stance.

She is looking forward to arriving on campus in August in preparation for her freshman season in the Fall semester.

"I chose Liberty because one of my friends on the team always tells me how much fun she is having and how Liberty is giving her her most cherished experiences and memories," Snook said. "I'm excited to get to know my teammates and start training with them."
