Stretch to expand Lady Flames' forward line depth in 2018-19
May 11, 2018 | Cobourg, Ontario
Former West Northumberland Wild Midget AA team captain Aislyn Stretch is Liberty University's ACHA Division I women's hockey team's fourth recruit for the Class of 2022.
Stretch is a forward from Cobourg, Ontario, the hometown of Lady Flames sophomore forward Deena Birney, who is a former player for the Wild.
"Aislyn is a great addition to our program," Liberty first-year Head Coach Chris Lowes said. "She is a good skater with a strong shot that should allow her to generate offense for our team. One of our strengths as a program is our depth, and the ability to produce offensively throughout our lineup. We have already been tinkering with line combinations for next season, and Aislyn's skill set will allow her to fill a number of different roles and needs."

Stretch, who plans to major in criminal justice at Liberty, enjoyed the atmosphere on her first visit to the Lynchburg, Va., campus.
"Everyone was inviting and I felt the strong community within the school immediately," she said.
Stretch, who also plays rugby and lacrosse, is currently representing Team Canada in the U19 World Floorball Championships in Switzerland. She is Team Canada's captain for that tournament with Lady Flames senior defenseman C.J. Tipping serving as the team's coach.
Stretch is looking forward to arriving for Liberty's preseason training camp in August and to begin her career as a student-athlete for the Lady Flames, who will be defending their second ACHA Division I national championship in four seasons.
"I am most excited about getting to play and grow with a new team," she said.
