Lady Flames break Mustangs to complete road tour

The Lady Flames Division I hockey team defeated Stevenson University 4-1 Saturday, wrapping up six-straight road games and improving to a perfect 9-0 on the season.
Liberty University got rolling early as Carly Peleshok scored 34 seconds into the first period off an assist from Autumn Kucharczyk. Stacey McCombe stretched the margin to 2-0 with about 12-and-a-half to go in the first, assisted by Sarah Stevenson and Brittany Hymers. The Mustangs managed a goal late in the first, but would not find the back of the net the rest of the evening.
Catherine Burrell scored the Lady Flames' lone goal in the second period, pounding it home thanks to an excellent set-up from Carrie Jickling.
Peleshok would score again on an empty net late in the final frame to round out the scoring.
The Lady Flames return to the LaHaye Ice Center Nov. 9 to face the University of Massachusetts in the first of a two-game series. Game time is set for 10 p.m.
