September 28, 2012  |  Lynchburg, Va.

Bram Erickson (#63) attempts a shot against Robert Morris.

Rick Turner picked up his third hat trick of the season as the Liberty Flames Division I Men's Hockey Team picked up its seventh win in a row, routing Robert Morris 12-1 on Friday night at the LaHaye Ice Center.

Tyson Street struck first for Liberty, picking up his first career goal off a feed from Luke Baumgarten just 56 seconds into the game to put Liberty up 1-0. Baumgarten was rewarded for his unselfishness halfway through the period as he scored his second goal of the year off an assist from Lindsay Leblanc.

Turner made good on a slapshot from the right slot to up the lead to 3-0. He has scored a goal in every game so far this season.

A minute later the floodgates opened for the Flames, first with Leblanc scoring his sixth goal of the year, then Turner scoring his second of the night off a pass from Steven Bellew. Then Ryley Egan put one in the net, followed by a score by Bellew.

The first period onslaught continued with Bram Erickson scoring his sixth of the year, before Turner finished the period with a flourish, completing the hat trick on a breakaway with 56 seconds remaining.

Liberty kept pouring it on in the second as Leblanc scored his second goal of the night off a rebound from Cam Bakker.

Turner scored his fourth goal of the night off a feed from Kyle Garcia, who was rewarded early in the third period with his seventh goal of the year off a pass from fellow rookie Kyle Miller.

Trey Milstead finally broke through for the Colonials with about four minutes to go, ending the shutout streak for Clayton Brown at 115 minutes, 41 seconds.

Brown went the distance for Liberty to pick up his fifth win on the season.

Both teams will be back on the ice Saturday night to conclude the two game series at the Ice Center. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
