Gymnasts to compete at USC before national meet in Florida

Liberty University's women's gymnastics team will travel to the University of South Carolina for the Cocky Classic on Saturday in Irmo, S.C. The classic will be Liberty's last competition before the travel team heads to Daytona, Fla., for the April 11-15 National Association of Intercollegiate Gymnastics Clubs (NAIGC) Championships.
Seniors Julie Bouton, who finished runner-up to the individual national champion in last year's All-Around competition, McKella Johnson, and Leah Corpora are preparing for their final two events of their Liberty careers.
"We've all been on the team since our freshman year," Corpora said. "We have absolutely loved doing it and all the girls that have come in love doing gymnastics, too, so it's a lot of fun to do gymnastics with girls who take the sport seriously and who enjoy what they're doing. We all love being with each other and working hard together."
Bouton sees plenty of prospects for the program to continue to flourish in the future.
"We have three new freshmen this year and a junior this year and there's no shortage of skill level anywhere," she said. "Everybody's really talented. They just walked onto the team and prepared and are looking good. Their skills are really shaping up to be something amazing."
