Flames rise up MCLA ranks, host No. 5 Colorado, No. 10 ASU
March 7, 2018 | Lynchburg, Va.
As it gears up to play two of the highest-ranked teams it has hosted in the five seasons it has competed at the MCLA Division I level, Liberty University's men's lacrosse team moved up one spot to No. 19 in this week's MCLA DI rankings following Saturday's 18-5 home-opening victory over West Virginia at the Liberty Lacrosse Fields.
Club Sports Video Coordinator Gabe Henderson and Assistant Director of Video & Media Patrick Strawn analyzed that contest and previewed this weekend's showdowns with No. 5 Colorado, set for Friday at 6 p.m., and No. 10 Arizona State, Saturday at 8 p.m., in a recent video.
Those will be the Flames' second and third of six regular-season matchups against Top-25 MCLA DI opponents. Both games will be webcast live by the Liberty Flames Sports Network (LFSN) and carried on the Big South Network.
Henderson traveled with the Flames to Colorado on last season's Spring Break road trip to provide coverage of a 20-16 shootout loss to the fifth-ranked Buffaloes on March 24 and 14-13 setback at No. 10 Colorado State the next night. Strawn served as a commentator for Saturday's first-ever WatchESPN live webcast of a non-NCAA men's lacrosse contest — the Flames against the Mountaineers.
Liberty (2-1, 2-0 SELC Northwest) will have another live stream on the nation's top sports network for its annual "Midnight Mayhem" matchup against Pittsburgh over College For A Weekend (CFAW) on April 6.
