Liberty falls at home to Maryland
November 16, 2012 | Lynchburg, Va.
The Maryland Terrapins took an early lead at Liberty University Friday night, and though the Flames managed to trim the margin, the Terps held on to defeat Liberty's Division II men's hockey team 4-3.
Maryland put the puck in the net twice in the opening period to secure a 2-0 lead while holding the Flames scoreless.
Liberty broke through and scored its first goal in the second period thanks to Jeff Boschman. DJ Dinnison found the back of the net as well in the period, but the Flames were unable to cut the lead going into the break as the Terrapins matched Liberty's goals with two of their own.
Brent Boschman put the Flames in tying position with a goal in the third period, but that would be as close as Liberty would get before time would expire in the game.
The Flames take the ice next at home on Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. to face the visiting Hawks of Saint Joseph's University.
