November 9, 2012  |  Philadephia, Pa.

The Liberty Flames Division II men's hockey team lost a close match to the Temple University Owls on the road in Philadelphia, Pa., Friday night, falling 6-5 in a shootout.

The Owls made good on their final shootout attempt after Liberty missed all six of its chances.

Temple got up early in the game, and jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one period.

In the second period, the Flames slimmed the margin to one after goals by Josh King and Peter Kamzierczak. But the Owls scored once more, taking a 4-2 lead heading into the final frame.

Liberty battled back in the third, as Brent Boschman cut it back to one and Brad Docksteader scored the equalizer. The Owls regained control with their lone goal of the third period. Kamzierczak sent his second goal of the night home to tie the game at five and force overtime.

Neither team managed the overtime "golden goal," forcing the shootout.

Nick Devine took the loss in goal, picking up 45 saves on 50 attempts for a 0.90 save percentage.

Liberty continues its road trip Saturday afternoon at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
