Liberty Crew sees strong competition at Head of Occoquan

The Liberty University men's and women's crew teams competed at the Head of the Occoquan Regatta in Fairfax Station, Va., Saturday, going head-to-head with several strong programs, including Penn State, Pitt, U.S. Military Academy, Georgetown, and the U.S.Naval Academy.
The Flames raced nine boats in seven events.
The Lady Flames were strong in the women's collegiate eight, finishing fourth out of club teams with a time of 19 minutes, 11.88 seconds. Overall, Liberty was 22nd out of 34 teams, many of which were NCAA programs.
Liberty took 16th out of 26 teams in a highly competitive women's collegiate novice eight, finishing at 22:06.43.
In the men's collegiate eights, Liberty finished 15th out of 16 with a time of 18:38.07.
The Flames posted a time of 20:28.37 in the college men's novice four, good for 11th place out of 20 teams. On the women's side, Liberty was 19th out of 20, finishing in 26:13.68.
Liberty had two boats in both the men's and women's collegiate four, with the Flames taking 14th and 17th out of 18 men's boats, and the Lady Flames securing 21st and 30th position out of 31.
Liberty will compete next at the Head of the South in Augusta, Ga., on Nov. 10 beginning at 9 a.m.
