Four top finishes at Sports Racket highlight Flames weekend

Preliminary standings reveal the Liberty Flames men's and women's racquetball teams posted four first-place wins and 10 more top-three finishes — six on the men's side and eight for the women's — in nine divisions at the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Racquetball Conference tournament Oct. 26-28 at Liberty's home facility, The Sports Racket.
The final team results of MACRC tournament will be released next week, though preliminary standings for each division are available. The following is a recap of Liberty's preliminary results.
Thea Beaty took first in Women's Collegiate Singles Division 2 for Liberty, and teammate Abigail Lindsey finished tops in Women's Collegiate Singles Division 3. Amanda Liebig of Liberty finished behind Lindsey in Division 3 singles.
Flames pair Liebig and Samantha Futrell claimed first in Women's Collegiate Doubles Division 3/4. In the same division, Liberty's Courtney Sharp paired with Alexis Dupont of North Carolina State to claim third.
Beaty and Lindsey were paired in Women's Collegiate Doubles Division 1/2 where they finished third.
Futrell took second in Women's Collegiate Singles Division 4, right ahead of Sharp, who claimed third place.
Jonathan Davis and Ryan Moore teamed up in Men's Collegiate Doubles Division 3/4 and took first place for Liberty, while Daniel Bass and Sam Montgomery claimed third place for the Flames.
Davis also took second and Moore third in Men's Collegiate Singles Division 3, and Montgomery finished second in Division 4.
Liberty hosted the Liberty Invitational Fall Collegiate Tournament to begin the season Sept. 28-30.
Liberty's next scheduled event is an MACRC tournament at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Nov. 16-18.
