Flames engulf Phoenix in DII matchup

Friday night the Liberty Flames Division II men's hockey team incinerated the Phoenix of Elon University 8-0 at home, its fifth win in a row, behind a pair of goals each from seniors Brad Docksteader and Brent Boschman.
Boschman opened the scoring for Liberty four minutes in, sneaking a puck past Phoenix goalie Mark Dalgetty. Boschman added another midway through the period to make the score 2-0.
In the second period, Clinton Nigh picked up a loose puck and banged it home, stretching the Flames' lead to 3. Docksteader scored on a loose puck in front two minutes later to up the lead to 4-0, then added another with under a minute to go to send Liberty into the locker room up 5-0.
Nate Arbour scored just 40 seconds into the final period, and only 17 seconds later Neal Henderson put one in, making the margin 7 in favor of Liberty. Jeremy Martin scored his first goal as a Flame midway through the final period as the home team kept peppering Dalgetty with shots the rest of the way, outshooting Elon by an unheard of 78-7 margin.
Justn Gortman made seven saves to pick up the win for Liberty, while Dalgetty took the loss.
Liberty takes a week off before beginning a three game road trip in Newark, Del., against the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens. Game time for the first at UD Gold Arena is set for 8:05 p.m.
