Entering his seventh season with the Flames, head coach Bryan Rigg brings experience in both coaching and in playing the sport of volleyball. He played high school volleyball and club volleyball in the state of Pennsylvania from 1999-2003. During his freshman year at Liberty University he resurrected the men’s club volleyball team helping to re-start the program and to pursue athletes interested in joining the team. He played at Liberty from 2003-2006. After leaving Liberty he coached high school boys volleyball in Pennsylvania until 2009 and returned to Liberty as an assistant coach in 2010 and then as the head coach in 2011.
Coach Rigg is originally from Honey Brook Pennsylvania and currently resides in Lynchburg Virginia with his wife (Kate) and two children (Naomi, Charles). He has served as a Pastor at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg Virginia since 2010.
As a coach, Rigg has many milestones with the men's volleyball program. He has increased his win percentage and raised his teams level of competition each year since becoming the head coach. His team has finished with a higher National ranking each year after year in his tenure. In the '13-'14 season the program took great strides under his leadership, defeating their first varsity program ever (Hannibal LaGrange, NAIA) and finishing with a top 36 National ranking ever in program history. During that '13-'14 season Rigg was awarded the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation's 'National Coach of the Year" award and Liberty University's "Club Sports Coach of the Year" award. During the ’14-’15 season the program was ranked as high as #16 in the country, had two players honored as “All EIVA players”, and defeated a number of prestigious NCAA, NAIA, and club programs.
