Start Date: 04/01/2011
My name is Jason Jarrett and I reside in Lynchburg and am affiliated with Liberty University because my parents met at Liberty back in the 70s. We moved around a little when I was growing up because my father was an ordained pastor. After my dad worked at a few different churches, my family moved back to Lynchburg where I was home schooled for a little while then attended CVCC, Liberty and Virginia Tech. I graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 2003 and continued working at my job at Innovative Wireless Technologies as a Hardware/RF Engineer.
Growing up, I enjoyed multiple sports including Basketball, Soccer and Running which laid a good foundation for Ultimate Frisbee later in life. I was introduced to Ultimate Frisbee by a friend during the summer of 2003 and immediately enjoyed all aspects of the sport. While participating with a local UF pick-up group, I started helping out with AWANA at Thomas Road Baptist Church which led to my start in officially coaching in sports. After playing Ultimate Frisbee for a few years, I helped combine several small UF pick-up groups around Lynchburg and with Liberty's help, hosted a tournament in 2007. In 2010, I was informed by several local players that Liberty wanted to start Ultimate Frisbee as a Club Sport and thought I would be a good candidate to coach the team. I applied for the position and have coached the Men's and Women's teams for the past couple of years.
Liberty competes against teams with many years of experience and has improved significantly over the past two years. Each year, Liberty has more students interested in joining the team and will only get better with time.
