I grew up in Indiana where I was first introduced to volleyball. Both of my sisters played volleyball all through high school, and my oldest sister progressed by playing travel ball with a club out of Muncie and at Liberty. The club team there was ranked #1 in the nation. She later accepted a full ride to Liberty University for volleyball where she started all 4 years with 2 Big South titles. I learned the game of volleyball by attending their practices and trying to imitate how they played.
My family moved to Lynchburg, VA when I was a sophomore in high school, however growing up there were no boy’s or men’s programs where I lived for me to play on in. I continued to play in church leagues, intramurals programs and summer leagues. Later my junior and senior year I decided to join the Liberty men’s club team. This was the first time every playing organized volleyball and being coached. While in high school and college I would help out at the Liberty Volleyball camps, continuing to learn more about the sport. My brother in-law started to train me for 2 man volleyball tournaments in which I played in a number of tournaments in the Virginia area and later in California. Learning from my brother in-law Brandon Aronson, sister Athena Aronson, and the current volleyball coach Shane Pinder…along with many others I would continue to progress my skills at volleyball.
My first volleyball coaching experience was at Brookville High School as the assistant coach, under Athena Aronson (my sister) of the JV team for a couple of years, before moving up to assist her with the varsity program. We won many district titles, including making it to the final four for Virginia High School Volleyball. I have been learning Sand volleyball for a couple of years, and continue to learn by working with friends and family that have been mentors in my life and that I have been able to coach and teach. I continue still to ask questions and learn more from the greatest volleyball coaches and strength/conditioning coaches I have known, my sisters and brother in-law! With their help and guidance I expect a solid season!
