Originally from Ontario, Coach Bloomfield started at Liberty in 1999 as the men’s coach for a couple of years.  After a brief sabbatical, he started the women’s D1 team, in January of 2006. In the following 8 seasons, the Lady Flames have had 6 top 5 rankings and 6 national tournament invitations. In the last 3 years several bench marks have been accomplished. 2012 – 2013 season, 4 consecutive first place rankings with a silver championship at nationals. 2013 – 2014 season a bronze championship at nationals which included the team’s 150th win, finishing with a 153 – 74 - 15  record. Bloomfield is looking forward to a National Championship this year. Coach Bloomfield lives in Campbell County outside of Lynchburg with his wife Sharon, who is the Associate Director of International and Graduate Admissions. Bloomfield has two grown children. Julie, lives in Forest and teaches at a local high school and Scott who lives in Lynchburg and co-owns a local construction company, building spec. and custom homes.
