The Flames Club has enjoyed eight consecutive years of record growth in Annual Fund support. These funds are invested in the university’s effort to equip and train our outstanding student-athletes to excel in the classroom and in the athletics arena, and to use the platform of NCAA Division I athletics for eternal significance.
The financial investment continues to pay dividends, as Liberty earned a conference record sixth-consecutive Sasser Cup on May 30, 2013. The Sasser Cup is awarded annually to the Big South Conference’s strongest overall athletics program, and the Flames have claimed the award a total of 11 times. During the 2012-13 season, the Flames captured conference titles in baseball, football, men’s basketball, men’s cross country, men’s indoor track & field, men’s outdoor track & field, volleyball, women’s basketball, women’s cross country, and women’s outdoor track & field; for a total of 10 championships.
The Flames are also reaching new highs academically, as our 560 student-athletes completed the 2012-13 academic year with a program-best 3.06 cumulative GPA.
We thank all members of the 2012 Flames Club for the part that they played in the successes enjoyed last year. We ask that everyone in Flames Nation---students, alumni, ticket buyers, and fans---join them in making a difference as a member of the 2013 Flames Club!
