LU Ski and Snowboard Team Making Name for Itself
January 27, 2011 | Lynchburg, VA
Lynchburg, VA - It's just the second year for Liberty University's Freestyle Ski and Snowboard Team.
But they're already making a name for themselves.
They just got back from a competition at the University of Maryland and took first place in several events.
They are the only team in the nation to have a ski slope on their college campus.
The team has 21 members – split into two groups - and Head Coach Eric Hegreness says they all are dedicated.
"Competitors here are great, they are elite riders, and a lot of it is due to Snowflex, these guys train here all the time, some of these guys are here every single day," said Hegreness.
This weekend, they will perform at the DeMoss Rail Jam on campus and at Wintergreen.
They say fans can take part and can win things like a weekend trip to Massanutten Ski Resort, a TV, a PlayStation 3, even an iPod.
